BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A Baxter County man was arrested for firing at deputies as they responded to an incident Thursday night.

According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Thadeus James McBride, 43, of Mountain Home, was charged with criminal attempt to commit battery in the first degree.

Sheriff John Montgomery said McBride fired three shots at deputies in the 300 block of Fieldwood Lane. As deputies approached McBride, he threatened to shoot himself before pointing the gun in the direction of the officers.

Deputies were able to talk McBride into putting the gun on the ground after he fired the shots.

When they approached, McBride began threatening them again before deputies deployed a Taser.

McBride is being held on a $50,000 bond.
