MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - After a victim of domestic abuse learned of a Blytheville woman's death, she wanted women in fear to know they can get help.
Stacie McCormick of Osceola is one of many women who faced domestic abuse.
McCormick told Region 8 News she was married to her abuser, who she says threatened to kill her on several occasions.
She vividly remembers being stabbed and punched several times, not knowing if she would survive.
"It's very scary trying to get out of a situation like that especially if you don't feel like you have any resources," McCormick said.
McCormick said one resource is the Haven of Northeast Arkansas.
She said it is a safe place for battered women.
"The Haven does have the resources for the victims and their children," McCormick said. "At the center they won't be able to be found. They will be protected and they will have the resources to rebuild their life without that person bothering them."
For women who need help, you can contact the Haven at (870) 532-6669 or click here to learn more about their services.
