Izard County Sheriff's Department recognizes employees for their service

IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

Employees of the Izard County Sheriff’s Department were recognized for their service.

Three deputies were presented with awards for serving over 10 years with the department.

After previously working as a patrol deputy, Deputy Matt Churchwell now works as a school resource officer for the Melbourne School District.

Deputy Doyle Cross, currently working as a patrol deputy in Horseshoe Bend, has completed 10 years of service to the county working with the road department and the sheriff’s department.

After retiring as an officer of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Deputy Y.D. Whitehurst served 10 years as a bailiff and transport officer for the sheriff’s department.

Two other employees were also recognized for their service to the county.

Karen Lester, a detention officer, was given a 5-year service award.

Shane Farmer also received a 10-year service award for his work as a dispatcher.
