Police: Inmate attacks inmate

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Batesville inmate was taken to the hospital with a broken nose after another inmate attacked him.

According to an Independence County Sheriff's Office incident report, Thursday, March 17, Brad Hodge, 36, of Batesville was taken to the White River Medical Center emergency room.

He told officers that Therron Riddle, 27, of Batesville became angry at him over a misunderstanding with another inmate.

According to Hodge, Riddle thought Hodge had threatened the inmate and called him a racial slur.

That's when Riddle became upset.

During recreation time, Riddle went to Hodge's cell and hit him in the face.

Hodge stated that Riddle punched him at least twice and took him to the ground in an attempt to choke him in a "headlock".

Hodge stated that he did lose consciousness and when he woke up, he was lying in a large amount of blood.

He was later taken to the hospital and upon observation, officers believed the victim suffered a broken nose and a swollen eye.

Hodge was later advised of the affidavit process should there be inadequate evidence to support the charges.
