INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A warrant has been filed for the arrest of a man who allegedly lead deputies on a high speed chase across three counties.
Independence County Sheriff Steve Jeffery told Region 8 News that Joshua Sarrels would face charges in connection to the incident.
According to an incident report from the sheriff's office, deputies were called to the area of Union Hill Road and Blackland Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle driving erratically.
After deputies located a blue Buick driving at a high rate of speed, they chased the suspect and two passengers.
The driver reached speeds of up to 100 mph before eventually hitting a patrol car, losing control and landing in a ditch.
The report stated the driver then got out and ran.
While White County deputies and K9 units searched the surrounding area for the driver, the two passengers were taken into custody to the Independence County Detention Center.
There, Karia Renee Sanders, 37, of Concord and the second passenger were questioned about their connection to the driver.
Both stated they only knew the driver as Craig Walls, but after further interrogation, the second passenger admitted that the driver's name is Josh Sarrels.
After running Sarrels' name through dispatch, deputies learned he was wanted by the Arkansas Parole Board.
Sanders was wanted out of Independence County for contempt of court and she was also charged with hindering apprehension and theft by receiving.
