Searcy police warn of "scam"

SEARCY, AR (KAIT) - The Searcy Police Department is alerting the public of a possible scam involving someone posing as an Entergy employee.

According to the department's Facebook page, someone claiming to be a representative of Entergy is calling and claiming that they'll shut off the victim's electricity if they don't pay their account.

"The person on the phone is directing people to go get a reloadable money card in order to make the payment," the Facebook post stated.

The department said Entergy will never call a customer and demand payment in such a way.

"If you get this phone call, make contact with Entergy to confirm what is being told to you." the post stated.
