JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A smoky haze filled the air this morning after showers and storms pushed east of Region 8.

The National Weather Service in Springfield, MO stated wildfires in Oklahoma and Kansas yesterday were the cause for the thick, blue smoke reported around northeast Arkansas.

With strong winds shifting to the west, southwest before daybreak, the smoke associated with the wildfires moved east over the Ozarks.

At roughly 10:30 a.m., several reports indicated a smoke cloud moving in to Craighead County; with thick smoke appearing around east Jonesboro.

The smoke has since dissipated.
