PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Strong winds created issues for construction crews at a Paragould park.
The city is renovating three parks and this week Labor Park construction was delayed.
A wall recently added to the park building collapsed due to very strong winds.
Crews constructed two walls but a roof did not attach the walls yet.
"It was done properly and correctly, it just didn't hold up because it was just standing there by itself," Mayor Mike Gaskill said. "I know there have been some other issues about fearing the wind so it is something we are keeping our eye on."
Gaskill said the wall fell on the new stairwell and caused some damage to those.
Crews were on site during the incident, but no one was injured.
Gaskill said he is happy the second wall did not fall too.
"The wall blew down right there into that stairway so then the other one started weaving back and forth as we were standing here and I kept thinking it was going to go but the guys got here in time to brace it," Gaskill said.
Two metal posts now secure the wall.
Paragould Parks and Recreation Director Pat Austin said crews plan to reconstruct the wall that fell Friday.
She said the incident caused a slight delay in construction, but crews will work to get back on schedule.
She also thanks park goers for steering clear of all construction going on, and encourages them to continue.
