JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

A mother reportedly got robbed while waiting on her stepson outside of an apartment complex.

It happened at the Gladiola Estates, 703 Gladiolus Drive, around 1 a.m. Saturday.

The woman told Jonesboro police she was smoking a cigarette in her car when a black man walked up to her door.

He asked the woman for a cigarette. After she gave him one, police say he “brandished a chrome looking object.”

According to the report, the woman did not know if it was a knife or gun.

The suspect demanded the victim for all the cash in her purse.

He ran off with $250, but left behind a cell phone.

The victim later took the phone to the police department and after further observation, an officer was able to identify the suspect by a picture on the phone.

Police are currently looking for the 21-year-old suspect, who reportedly was wearing a red zip-up hoodie, blue jeans, and a blue and purple baseball hat.
