JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Road work along Red Wolf Boulevard will continue Tuesday.

According to a press release from the city of Jonesboro, work on Red Wolf Boulevard between Aggie Road and Alumni Boulevard will finish ahead of schedule this week.

The press release stated after that work finishes, the city will begin work to create a southbound lane on Red Wolf Boulevard.

The inside southbound lane from Johnson to Aggie Road will be open, but the outside lane will close Tuesday.

The work will include a 200-foot deceleration lane for right turns on Alumni Boulevard. It also includes a 525-foot left-turn lane to help ease traffic congestion after events at Arkansas State
University.

Alumni Boulevard will remain closed as crew work to replace a drainage culvert at the entrance of the street.

Mayor Perrin says this road work is important for safety.

"This will make it safer for ASU fans turning onto Alumni Boulevard and will make it safer for our police officers who are out there on foot directing traffic," Perrin said.
