HIGHLAND, AR - Sharp County Judge Harold Crawford was laid to rest Saturday. He died Wednesday in a Little Rock hospital.

Funeral Services were held at Highland High School in Highland, Arkansas. Friends and family remember Judge Crawford as positive person and a mentor.

"He was my mentor, he was the reason I got into politics. I love that man," said Mayor David Shackleford of Highland, Arkansas.

The 66-year-old Crawford was currently serving his fourth term in office. He had served as Sharp County's Judge since January 1, 1999.

A spokeswoman in the Judge's office said Crawford had been hospitalized for approximately five weeks at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Little Rock.

Crawford had a long history of public service in both Arkansas and Texas. He served as Judge of Rockwall County, Texas for more than 20 years. He had also served in Texas as a judge in municipal court, justice court and county courts-at-law.

Crawford is survived by his wife, Susan, plus two sons and a daughter.
