Power outages reported from storms

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Entergy Arkansas is reporting sporadic power outages across Region 8 with strong storms moving through the area.

According to the outage map, more than 5,000 outages were reported earlier from Cave City to Cord and into Batesville. Currently, there are outages in Randolph, Poinsett, Jackson and Independence Counties.

According to Glen Willis, Independence County OEM coordinator, there was one lightning strike that hit a house north of Batesville that caused smoke in the area.

There was also another lightning strike south of Batesville that hit a power line and transformer, causing a washer and dryer sitting outside a house to catch fire.
