SENATH, MO (KAIT) -

The Senath Fire Department will hold its annual fundraiser this coming Saturday and they need your help.

This year, they are going bigger because they need to raise money for special equipment.

Fire Chief Kent Montgomery said they need a new rescue chainsaw.

They have one, but he said it is not enough.

Montgomery said the grain bins are coming back into the county, and it is important that every truck has the equipment.

“Farmers have to get down in the grain bins and clean them or they'll get stopped up,” Montgomery said. “The grain won’t come out and they can get trapped down in the grain and you have to get the grain out real quick. We've got to cut the side of the bins out.”

The city funds the department. If they raise enough money, Montgomery said the city will save quite a bit.

The cookout will be Saturday, April 2 at the fire department, 100 South Main Street.

For further information, you can contact City Hall at (573) 738-2346.
