SENATH, MO (KAIT) - The town of Senath is getting closer to having its own grocery store.

The town had a store 5 years ago, but it burned down.

Macintosh Development Company out of Brandon, Missouri bought nearly 2 acres last fall to specifically build a grocery store.

It will sit at the intersection of 412 and P Highway.

According to Mayor Joe Lane, Macintosh Development has five companies interested in leasing from them.

Bill Lewis is a resident. He told Region 8 News Wednesday that he looks forward to the convenience of a hometown grocery store.

"What it means to me is that I don't have to get in the car and drive 12 miles to grocery shop," Lewis said. "I can do it right here at home."

Mayor Lane said the city should know which company will lease the building in the next couple of weeks.

He expects groundbreaking shortly after that.
