Stabbing victim's name released, in critical condition

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

The name of a stabbing victim was released Thursday.

Mario Perez, 19, of Pocahontas was stabbed, according to the Craighead County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said it happened at 1164 Highway 49 north in Brookland near the Craighead and Greene County line.

Sheriff Marty Boyd told Region 8 News first responders were called to the location in reference to a man who was stabbed multiple times sometime before 10 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the incident report, Mario Perez said he and the suspect were driving around when the suspect stopped the car saying he had to go to the bathroom.

Perez said the suspect then dragged him from the car and reportedly stabbed him six times.

Investigators are looking for a suspect in the case, however the name of the suspect has not been released.

Perez was taken to a Jonesboro hospital and remains in critical condition.
