JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Many Jonesboro residents are excited about a new dog park that is in the works.

A meeting was held in the Jonesboro Municipal Building Thursday evening, where they unveiled the plans for the project.

The park will be divided into three sections according to the dog’s size.

It will have fountains for dogs and their owners, benches to rest on and agility courses.

Director of Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Wixson Huffstetler said they have the plan, so now they have to raise the money.

“I have no money in my budget this year for this,” Huffstetler said. “So, we need the community to come together and figure out different fundraising ways and actually local businesses to step up and do sponsorships for this.”

Once they break ground, Huffstetler believes it will take around 120 days to build the park.

The estimated cost is $146,260.66.
