JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Drugs and shell casings were found at a Jonesboro apartment Wednesday night, but finding out exactly what happened isn't very clear.

Jonesboro Police are investigating after several shots were fired in an apartment in the 500-block of Melrose Street.

According to the incident report, Brandy Jackson, a resident of the apartment, told police that she heard someone trying to come in through the front door and then at the back door.

She recognized the man at the front door only by the name "Jay Black."

Jackson claims she opened the front door for the man.

She told police he came in and shot once toward the back door where other suspects were trying to kick in the door, according to the report.

The officer noted that the glass on the back door of the apartment was shattered. He also said he found a set of digital scales, marijuana residue and a small marijuana roach on the kitchen table.

Another resident of the apartment, Shacora Neeley, told police she was in the bathroom when the incident occurred and all she knew was that shots were fired and Jackson had asked her to call police.

A search of both their names turned up outstanding warrants on Neeley. She was cited and given a court date.

Jackson was cited for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both women were released on their own recognizance.

Jonesboro Police have not arrested a suspect for the shooting.  If you can a tip that can help solve this case, call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP.
