Legislators Hope to Finish Business This Week

APRIL 4, 2005 - Posted at 7:48 a.m. CST

LITTLE ROCK, AR - State legislators are hoping to finish their work and close the General Assembly this week.  But first they are expected to consider a plan to set spending priorities for the next two years.

Lawmakers should get their first look at a draft of the Revenue Stabilization Act this week.  The session-ending legislation will categorize more than $7 billion in state spending for the two-year budget cycle that begins July 1.

The act should go before the Joint Budget Committee tomorrow along with a report from the state Department of Finance and Administration on the official two-year budget forecast.
