Chase leads deputies across two counties

Chase involving two sheriff departments

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A Piggott man is behind bars on multiple felony charges after leading police on a 30-mile chase.

According to Greene County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Rick Mellow, the chase began in Paragould when an Arkansas State Police trooper tried to stop a car on a traffic violation.

That's when the driver, Joe Lewis Ralph, 33, of Piggott took off.

Chief Deputy Mellow said during the chase, Ralph threw suspected methamphetamine out of the window.

The chase ended 30 miles later in northern Clay County at Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway.

Chief Deputy Mellow told Region 8 News that Ralph lost control on a gravel road and crashed into a tree.

He then tried to run from police, but was tackled by Greene County Sheriff David Carter.

Chief Deputy Mellow said they found 30 grams of meth in Ralph's car.

Ralph, who was on felony probation, faces multiple charges including fleeing and possession of meth with intent to deliver.
