Deputies find a pound of pot during search

GREENE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Greene County Sheriff's Deputies recovered nearly one pound of marijuana from a Paragould home Monday morning after serving a search warrant.

Sheriff David Carter said his department made four controlled buys at the home, located in the 100-block East Ruby Street, before serving the search warrant. One of those purchases was for meth.

Carter said they received information that Steven Smith did not keep the drugs inside his home; instead, he kept them in a shed behind the house.

Deputies found 445 grams of marijuana compressed in brick form, according to Carter.

Smith faces several charges including delivery of meth or cocaine and endangering the welfare of a minor.

Smith is expected to make his first appearance in Paragould District Court Thursday.
