Several drug arrests during multi-agency operation

BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - The Baxter County Sheriff's Office recently worked with several other agencies to round up wanted people and those violating the Arkansas controlled substance act.

The operation lasted from March 31 to April 2. The sheriff's office worked with the Arkansas State Police, the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections, the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, the Mountain Home Police Department and other agencies in the enhanced enforcement operation.

Several people were arrested on various felony and misdemeanor charges during vehicle stops and probation home visits.

Cindy Marie Piatt, 27, of Midway was arrested during a probation home search. She is charged with felonies for possession of a schedule 6 controlled substance with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and exposure of a child to methamphetamine.

Piatt was released on a $7,500 bond and will appear in circuit court on April 7.

Mikel Blaine Short, 44, of Midway was also arrested during that home search.

He is also charged with felonies for possession of a schedule 6 controlled substance with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and exposure of a child to methamphetamine.

Piatt and Short were charged with exposure of a child to methamphetamine because drug paraphernalia containing meth residue was found on a table adjacent to an open baby food container, a teething toy and a feeding/play chair.

Heath D. Lee, 37, of Midway was arrested from a vehicle on charges of possession of a schedule 6 substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was assigned a $2,500 bond and will appear in circuit court on April 7. He is also being held without bond on a parole violation charge.

James Tyler Davis, 22, of Norfork was arrested during a probation home visit.

He is charged with a felony for possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor for possession of a schedule 6 controlled substance.

He was also given a $2,500 bond and will appear in circuit court on April 7. He is also being held without bond on a parole violation charge.

Hannah M. Miller, 23, of Mountain Home was arrested during a probation home visit.

She is charged with a felony for possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor for possession of a schedule 6 controlled substance.

She was given a $2,500 bond and will appear in circuit court on April 7.

Jamie Lee Southard, 24, of Jordan was arrested during a vehicle stop.

He is charged with two felony counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor for possession of a schedule 6 controlled substance and received a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender.

He was released on a $5,000 bond and will appear in circuit court on April 7.

Jesse Ray Bowman, 24, of Midway was arrested after a vehicle stop and a brief manhunt when he fled from officers on foot.

He is charged with two felonies for possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanors for possession of a schedule 6 controlled substance and fleeing on foot and a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender.

He was given a bond of $5,000 and will appear in circuit court on April 7. He is being held without bond on a parole violation charge.

Seven more people were arrested and booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on misdemeanor charges and outstanding warrants during vehicles stops.

In addition to these, there were a combined total of 36 citations and warnings issued by deputies during vehicle stops for traffic, licensing and equipment violations.
