STEELE, MO (KAIT) - Police say a woman stole several items and attempted to set fire to the home she is accused of burglarizing.

Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield says his department investigated the reported burglary on Quapaw Street on Monday.

The victim told police a handgun was taken along with ammunition, a knife/sword collection, tools and about $400 in change. In all, about $2,500 worth of items were taken.

Stanfield states the investigation led to arrest Connie Carr, 43, of Steele.

Carr was interviewed by police and officers later searched a storage unit where all of the stolen property was found, according to the chief.

Carr is also accused of trying to set fire to the home.

A warrant was issued charging Carr with second-degree burglary, second-degree attempted arson, theft of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm.

She is in the Pemiscot County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
