Judge vetoes JP decision on pay raises

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Lawrence County Quorum Court will discuss increased pay for elected officials Monday.

According to Lawrence County Judge Dale Freeman, justices of the peace approved a raised for elected officials for this year during the March meeting.

During the meeting, Freeman did not give his input into the situation to let the JPs decide.

Members approved the pay raises but agreed to review the raises for next year and possibly start a committee to look over the situation.

Freeman had seven days to veto the decision and he did.

Now the issue will be discussed at the April meeting.

Freeman said his veto can be overridden.
