ADC inmate killed during attempted escape

GRADY, AR (KAIT) - An Arkansas Department of Correction inmate was killed when he tried to escape prison.

A statement from the ADC indicates Christopher Wilson, 41, was shot and killed Thursday during an escape attempt from the Varner Unit in Grady.

Wilson was serving life without parole for two counts of capital murder out of Faulkner County.

He was booked into the ADC unit in 2003 after pleading guilty to killing 26-year-old Pamela Kay Reed and her 8-month-old son, Lucas Reed, at their home in Saltillo.

Arkansas State Police and ADC staff are investigating.

"Pursuant to agency policy, the officers involved will be placed on paid administrative leave until the investigation is complete," according to the ADC.
