JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The man who drove head-on into a Jonesboro police officer last September has pleaded guilty to a DWI charge.

Documents from Craighead County District Court state Richard L. Hoke of Jonesboro entered that plea on Tuesday.

Judge Keith Blackman accepted the plea.

Hoke was driving a vehicle that crossed the center line on Arkansas 351, north of Jonesboro and struck JPD officer David McDaniel head-on.

The incident was captured on the dash-cam in McDaniel’s police car. Both men were injured in the crash.

The original charges against Hoke were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.

Hoke must pay $950 in fines and court costs.

He was also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and attend DWI school.

Officer McDaniel has since returned to active duty with Jonesboro police.
