New Paragould store applies for beer, wine permits

Walmart Neighborhood Market soon to sell alcohol

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - When the new Walmart Neighborhood Market opens in Paragould, they hope to sell beer and wine.

Joshua L. Thompson of Walmart #5780, 2600 Linwood, submitted applications for retail beer off premises and small farm winery-retail permits for both the store and the fuel center, according to the Arkansas Department of Finance's Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Construction on the store, located at the corner of Highways 358 and 49, began last year.

The store, which is in the process of hiring employees, is set to open later this spring.

Other Region 8 businesses submitting applications to the ABC during the week ending April 8 include:

  • Manda’s Poinsett Café, 30 Frisco, Marked Tree: Retail beer on premises
  • Dollar General Store #4767, 275 Hwy. 18, Manila: Small farm winery-retail
