JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Abilities Unlimited created a new concept in local re-sale efforts earlier this year with a Dollar Store that would allow shoppers to buy clothing by the pound.

The Dollar Store had been located under a large tent on Church Street, but now it has moved inside the Abilities Unlimited Recycle Building, 720 Burke Avenue.

“We have moved locations due to high demand and additional space requirements,” Heather Talley, Abilities Unlimited director of marketing, said. “We are now in a climate controlled, safer setting with increased parking and shopping space. We're also able to quickly stock more tables with great merchandise and can cycle stock more efficiently.”

The Dollar Store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The stock includes clothing, shoes and purses. Everything remains one dollar per pound.

“Thanks to our wonderful customers, this business venture has increased our proceeds tremendously,” Talley said. “Our Dollar Store allows one last opportunity to purchase items before they are baled and shipped overseas or to disaster relief zones.”

Abilities Unlimited uses proceeds from the donated items to improve living and working conditions, and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities.

“As always, the support of our community is what makes such a huge difference in the lives of people we serve,” Talley said.
