WEINER, AR (KAIT) - A rural Region 8 town will soon have access to medical care closer to home.

A new medical clinic is under construction in Weiner along Highway 49.

According to Dr. Bradley Bibb, this will be the sixth Access Medical Clinic in Northeast Arkansas.

Dr. Bibb said Access Medical Clinics serve areas with little or no access to healthcare.

Other locations include Ash Flat, Bono, Bay, Black Rock and Marked Tree.

Primarily, there will be a nurse practitioner at the Weiner location with Dr. Bibb overseeing all of the patient's charts.

According to Access Medical Clinics website, the clinic will see patients for a variety of reasons including wellness visits, school physicals, lab services, urgent care, walk-ins and chronic care management.

Dr. Bibb said he is excited to bring this facility to the residents of Weiner.

The clinic should be complete and open by the end of the summer or early fall.
