GR8 Job: Swifton native receives Army promotion

SWIFTON, AR (KAIT) -

The U.S. Army recently appointed Swifton native Shannon O. Shuman to the rank of Command Sergeant Major.

Shuman currently serves as the Military Intelligence and Language Branch Sergeant Major with the Human Resources Command at Fort Knox, KY.

Later this spring he will take a position at Goodfellow Air Force Base in Texas.

A 26-year veteran, Shuman enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1989 as a military intelligence professional.

According to the Department of Defense’s Joint Hometown News Service, he has served in numerous leadership positions since then.

Shuman is the son of Ollie I. Hunt of Swifton. He is the husband of Kira Shuman and father of Quinlan Shuman, both of Fort Knox.

A 1989 graduate of Swifton High School, Shuman earned a master’s degree in 2012 from the American Military University in Charles Town, WV.
