JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Some Region 8 residents and several more from Arkansas will be protesting in Washington D.C. Monday.

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments on the lawsuit blocking the deferred action initiatives, Deferred Action for Parental Accountability and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

According to a press release from Mireya Reith, executive director of the Arkansas United Community Coalition, 53 Latino voters and immigrant families representing the advocacy group will join others in rallies and marches on the steps of the Supreme Court.

Two of the supporters are from Jonesboro.

They will be “continuing the fight for immigration action and holding accountable elected officials who initiated the lawsuit,” according to the press release.

The deferred action supporters will hold three send-off rallies in Springdale, Alma and Little Rock Saturday.
