JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro high school group received a grant Saturday to help refurbish a home for a local family.

The Jonesboro Habitat for Humanity campus chapter planned to fix up a home on Monroe Street.

They applied for a grant from State Farm and received $5,000 to help give a home to a family in need.

"It's super exciting because everyone in the district has worked really hard to raise money, but this was just an additional contribution that really helps," said Grace Tedder, president of the campus chapter. "It gets everyone excited to work on this project because it's something else pushing us to get it done."

Tedder noted the money can go towards windows, doors or anything else the house might need before its new family settles in.

After a year of planning, she said Saturday was the first day they were able to start working on the house.
