JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Craighead Electric Cooperative spent Saturday afternoon showing off an energy efficient model home in Jonesboro.

Monty Williams with Craighead Electric said homeowners can expect lower utility bills when building an energy efficient home.

The model house was built by Jayne's Construction and Homes by using the latest efficiency practices.

Those include foam insulation that eliminates air leakage to the outside, geothermal heating and cooling, and LED lighting.

Williams said the reason for opening the home to people was to educate them about the advantages of building an energy efficient home.

“We're just wanting to show folks that you can do this and it's not rocket science or anything. It's an easy, simple thing you can do to make your home energy efficient,” Williams said. “Homeowners can do this without breaking their bank account.”

Anyone who missed the open house and wants more information can contact Craighead Electric at (870) 983-8301.
