TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) - The Trumann Animal Pet Savers group feels relieved knowing a new pound is opening in town.
The animal rescue group often talks about needing help for the animals they rescue.
In recent months, their shelter has been full, forcing members to consider euthanizing dogs.
Luckily, they have not had to put any of those dogs down.
The new pound, which will be open to the public, has a ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m.
The new space is bigger than the current shelter. It will be able to house several more dogs, giving TAPS more time to find forever homes for the rescues.
Mayor Barbara Lewallen said she is excited that this will help alleviate the overcrowding issue.
