HIGHLAND, AR (KAIT) -

A Sharp County fire department will update a piece of equipment after receiving a grant.

The Arkansas Forestry Commission states on their Facebook page the Highland Fire Department received a Firewise program grant.

The department got the funds after "completing program requirements to increase wildfire safety in the community," according to the post Tuesday.

Fire Chief Kal Dienst tells Region 8 News the $1,000 grant will go towards equipping a tanker truck the department also received from AFC.
