LITTLE ROCK, AR - A northeast Arkansas native and Arkansas State University graduate formally announced his Republican candidacy for Lieutenant Governor today.

Dr. Jim Lagrone made the announcment in the Capitol rotunda.

Lagrone, 47, is a Trumann native, and a past president of the Arkansas State Baptist Convention.  He currently lives in Bryant, where he works as a church consultant.

Lagrone would face the only other announced candidate, state Senator Jim Holt of Springdale, in the GOP primary.

Current Lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller is term-limited from seeking re-election and has said he'll run for governor against former U.S. Congressman Asa Hutchinson.
