JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

Students and faculty at A-State will soon have new housing off campus.

Haag Brown Commercial announced Thursday two major land deals in Jonesboro, including a new $20 million student housing project near the Arkansas State University campus.

Zimmer Development Co. purchased a 15.7-acre plot of land located on the northwest side of East Johnson and University Loop.

Zimmer plans to build 240 apartments, containing a total of 720 bedrooms.

Students or faculty will be able to rent by the bed, not by the apartment.

The other land deal involves a three-acre plot along the intersection of Stadium and Parker.

Osment & Copeland Investments will build a new new pre-owned automobile dealership, set to open early next year.
