Jonesboro holds second town hall meeting on property maintenance code

Meeting on property maintenance code

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The second of three town hall style meetings regarding the Jonesboro Property Maintenance Code took place Thursday night at Allen Park.

A large group of people showed up to have questions answered about the code from various city officials.

Though the property maintenance code was passed during a city council meeting last year, it has not been enforced yet.

After its passage, Mayor Harold Perrin enacted an amnesty period to educate people on the workings of the code.

In that time, opposition gathered enough signatures to place it on the ballot.

On Thursday night, Mayor Perrin encouraged people to go to the polls on the issue.

"May 3 is early vote, May 10 is the vote," Perrin said. "Vote your convictions. These are minimum standards in my mind."

The next town hall style meeting to answer questions about the property maintenance code takes place Monday, April 25, at Parker Park.

It will start at 6 o'clock.
