Deputies: Fire may have been intentionally set

CASH, AR (KAIT) - Craighead County sheriff's deputies believe someone deliberately set a mobile home fire.

Around 3:30 p.m. Thursday firefighters responded to a call in the 100-block of North Front Street in Cash.

The occupant, according to the initial incident report, was across the street at her boyfriend's when they saw smoke coming from the trailer.

The man reportedly got a fire extinguisher and they both went toward the trailer; however, he said the heat and smoke prevented him from using it.

The fire, according to the report, was concentrated in the northernmost room of the trailer.

After crews doused the flames, the chief asked for a fire marshal to investigate as a possible arson.

Witnesses told deputies they had seen the woman burning something on the front steps of the trailer earlier in the day, the report stated.

The fire is still under investigation.
