JPD investigates sexual assault involving young children

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police are investigating after an 8-year-old boy reportedly sexually assaulted a 7-year-old boy.

According to a Jonesboro Police Department incident report, Officer Jeremy Smith responded in reference to a sexual assault Thursday.

A woman told Officer Smith that her daughter, and a friend, said her son had been sexually assaulted on April 19.

According to the mother, the girls said an 8-year-old boy told them he had taken the victim into the woods behind a trailer park, pulled down his pants and put his mouth on his privates.

The victim told his mom that was true.

Officer Smith spoke with the 7-year-old and he told the same story as the girls did.

He said the older boy took him into the woods and said "I want to **** you up," according to the incident report.

He then reportedly pulled the boy's pants down and put the boy's privates in his mouth "for about a minute."

The 8-year-old then walked out of the woods, and the victim got on his bike and left also.

Officer Smith then spoke with the 8-year-old boy and his mother.

The mother said her son had recently been the victim of molestation.

At first, the boy denied going into the woods with the other child, but after several minutes, he did say that something "bad" happened in the woods.

The boy said he fell down and accidentally pulled the victim's pants down when he fell, and that's when the "bad things" happened.

The mothers were told to keep the boys separated.

A copy of the incident report was sent to the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline and the Arkansas Department of Human Services' Division of Children and Family Services.

The case was turned over to the juvenile division for continued investigation.
