Man threatens to kill woman with knife

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Jonesboro man was arrested after police say he held a knife to a woman and threatened to kill her.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 300-block of Russell Drive around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim told police she and Robert Mapson, 46, got into an argument when he pulled out a knife and said, "I'll kill you."

Mapson had left the home on foot before officers arrived.

According to an incident report, officers found Mapson stumbling toward them at a home on Russell Drive intoxicated.

Police searched Mapson and found a knife in his pocket, the report stated.

Officials said Mapson had a warrant out for his arrest.

Mapson was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member, obstructing governmental operations, public intoxication, and failure to appear.

He is being held in lieu of a probable cause hearing at the Craighead County Detention Center.
