White Co. man arrested for shooting

WHITE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A White County man was arrested after he shot a woman he claimed was stealing from him.

According to a press release on the White County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, deputies responded to the shooting around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

It happened in the 400-block of County Line Road in Rosebud.

Deputies found Melissa Andrews, 30, of Rosebud with a gunshot wound in her abdomen.

Gary Knight, 47, told deputies he shot Andrews because she was stealing things from his property.

The investigation revealed that Knight fired several rounds at Andrews while she was in her car and two of those hit the vehicle.

One of the bullets traveled through the vehicle and hit Andrews in the abdomen.

She also had an injury on her leg that appeared to be a grave from one of the bullets.

Deputies arrested Knight for first-degree battery and aggravated assault.

He was given a $75,000 bond and a June 7 court date.
