Arkansas Republicans select 12 delegates to GOP convention

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Republicans have met in each of the state's four congressional districts to select 12 delegates to the GOP National Convention in July.

Six delegates were chosen for GOP front-runner Donald Trump. Sen. Ted Cruz received five delegates, including state Sens. Linda Collins-Smith and Jason Rapert and U.S. Rep. French Hill was elected a delegate for Sen. Marco Rubio, even though Rubio is out of the race.

Arkansas will send 40 delegates to the convention with 25 to be chosen by the state committee and three going to the state GOP chairman and national committee members.

On the first ballot, Trump will have 16 delegates, Cruz has 15 and Rubio has nine. If no one wins the nomination on the first ballot, delegates are free to vote for whomever they choose.
