LITTLE ROCK, AR (KAIT) -

One of The Beatles performed in Arkansas Saturday night and got to meet two women behind the inspiration to one of the band’s songs.

Paul McCartney posted a picture on Facebook Sunday standing alongside two of his fans from the night before.

The women are Thelma Mothershed Wair and Elizabeth Eckford.

They were a part of the Little Rock Nine.

The Little Rock Nine confronted a hostile crowd on September 25, 1957 to attend Central High School in Little Rock.

McCartney says the Little Rock Nine inspired The Beatles track, “Blackbird.”

He performed at the Verizon Arena in Little Rock on Saturday.

It’s part of his One on One Tour and was the only stop in the area.
