BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Someone dumped more than a dozen 10-week-old puppies at the Blytheville Humane Society Saturday night, leaving them close to death.
The 16 puppies were left right outside the front door of the humane society inside a topless cage.
Volunteers told Region 8 News when they showed up the next day the dogs were shivering and terrified.
They said there was so much rainfall the puppies could have drowned.
Pam Ford, a volunteer at the humane society, said she is surprised they made it through the night.
Ford wants people to know they do not have to dump these animals to get rid of them.
She said the humane society will help if they are notified.
"If you have any puppies that you need to drop off, call us and let us know," Ford said. "They can foster them until we can get them transported."
Ford said they got the puppies taken care of before they got sick, luckily.
She said they are going to be transported to a rescue, no-kill shelter on Wednesday.
Anyone who needs the humane society's assistance can call the shelter at (870) 532-6698.
