ASH FLAT, AR (KAIT) - A Sharp County man was arrested after he reportedly ran over a woman.
According to a news release from the Sharp County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Arnhart Street in Ash Flat around 4 p.m. Monday.
A witness who called 911 said a man and woman were fighting in the front yard of a house.
They said the man got in a red Pontiac grandam and ran over the woman.
An Ash Flat officer found the vehicle on Peace Valley Road and tried to stop it.
The driver fled from officers and the car was later found abandoned on Peace Valley Road.
The Arkansas Department of Correction was called out with their tracking dog unit from Calico Rock.
About two hours later, the tracking dog unit found the man, later identified as 22-year-old Joshua King, hiding under an abandoned house on Evans Street in Ash Flat.
Officers arrested him without incident.
King is in the Sharp County Jail awaiting formal charges to be filed.
He is being charged with a felony for second-degree battery and misdemeanors for possession of marijuana, possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The news release did not mention any injuries the woman might have gotten from being run over.
