JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A debate was held May 5 to discuss the property maintenance code in Jonesboro.
It took place at Barnhill's with representatives both for and against the code in attendance.
Moderator of the debate, Roy Ockert, said the Kiwanis Club held this event to help inform the public.
"We have a policy that when we do a story that is political, a program that is political, we want to show both sides," Ockert said. "And so that's what we tried to do was to have a program that allowed both sides to have a chance to express their opinion and let people decide for themselves."
Teresa Beck spoke for the property code and Matt Parker spoke against it.
Early voting in the decision to repeal or keep the property maintenance code started May 3. The election will be May 10.
