JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -

The body of the suspect in the Sharp County shooting, Brandon Southerly, has been found in the Spring River near downtown Hardy.

His body was pulled from the Spring River by Hardy police, Hardy fire and rescue, Sharp County Sheriff's Department, Sharp County Coroner and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

AGFC's sonar boats detected something near an island where he crashed his truck.

A BARK's cadaver dog then located the exact location of the body so crews could recover it from the river.

Sheriff Mark Counts was able to identify Southerly's body by his tattoos and a driver's license found on him at the time.

Counts said it has been a long three days for law enforcement officials in the area.

"It has been a long three days there are several guys that have been working night and day who were out. We had a gentleman shot the first evening and our concern was that no one else would be hurt or injured," Counts said.

According to Counts, Southerly's family has been notified.

Counts said that the victim in the shooting is recovering from his wounds.

Counts thanks all those who helped in the search and recovery over the past two days.
