Blytheville woman arrested for shooting father

BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A Blytheville woman was arrested last week for reportedly shooting her father back in April.

According to a press release from Captain Scott Adams with the Blytheville Police Department, officers responded to the 400-block of East Kentucky Street on April 30 in response to someone being shot.

When officers arrived, they talked to Shannon Massey, who had a gunshot wound in his upper right shoulder.

He told officers that he was arguing with his daughter, Shanna Massey, when she pulled out a small handgun and shot him.

Shanna then reportedly left the scene.

Officers got a warrant to arrest Shanna on May 3.

Captain Adams said officers arrested her on May 4. She was taken to the police department to be interviewed.

Shanna reportedly told detectives she remembers pulling the slide back on the gun "because she knew it would not fire on safety."

She said she does not remember anything else after that.

Shanna is charged with first-degree domestic battery.
