OSCEOLA, AR (KAIT) - An Osceola factory will soon make job cuts, according to Mayor Dickie Kennemore.
Kennemore said Viskase will lay off 80 employees by October.
Viskase is a plastic fabrication company that Kennemore said has been a valuable member of the city's industrial community for 40 years.
Although there will be a cut, 200 people will keep their jobs.
Kennemore said the layoffs will come in the finish-line department.
He said those jobs will go overseas.
For the 80 employees affected, the city hopes to help them.
"We're going to do everything we can to help any of the displaced workers in the area," Kennemore said. "We do have a lot of jobs coming in, so hopefully, those that are going to be without a job will still be able to find something in the area."
Kennemore said several of the jobs coming to the city have not been announced yet.
"We will continue to support Viskase," Kennemore said. "We want to keep what we have now. They will still be valuable."
