LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -

A few Lawrence County Quorum court members are in trouble with the state for missing court meetings.

According to Lawrence County Judge Dale Freeman, a state auditor came in and found a few justices of the peace who missed more than one court meeting.

"The auditor wrote it up and we sent it to the prosecuting attorney then we settled it last night," Freeman said. "The members responsible are going to take care of it."

That state only allows members to miss one court meeting a year.

The members will now have to pay $200 per missed meeting.

Some members have missed up to three meetings and they will have to pay back that money for each missed meeting.

"It is $200 a meeting, that is what they get for the meetings," Freeman said. "So those who has three missed meetings will have to pay back $600."

Freeman said the members have been notified of the amount they must pay back.
